About DeGoo® Activated Charcoal Soap
What is DeGoo® Soap Tablets?
DeGoo® Soap Tablets are compact, concentrated solid soap tablets developed by G.I. Jean LLC. The formulation combines a potassium-cocoate soap base derived from coconut oil, powdered activated carbon (PAC), pumice, and lemongrass essential oil. The activated carbon serves as the adsorption component of the product and is incorporated into the soap formulation to help remove odors and odor-causing residues from the skin. Pumice provides a gentle scrubbing action to help loosen and remove dirt and debris, while lemongrass essential oil contributes additional cleansing properties and a fresh citrus fragrance. Together, these ingredients create a convenient cleansing tablet designed for effective use at home or on the go. DeGoo® Soap Tablets represent the first commercial application of G.I. What makes DeGoo® different from an ordinary soap?
DeGoo® Soap Tablets are specifically formulated to help remove stubborn odors, odor-causing residues, and difficult-to-remove compounds that ordinary soap may struggle to eliminate. Users commonly use DeGoo® after exposure to odors such as gasoline, transmission fluid, fish, skunk odor, and other persistent smells. The formulation may also help remove odor-causing and irritating residues associated with materials such as onions, peppers, seafood seasonings, crab boil spices, and similar substances. In addition to odors and residues, DeGoo® is designed to assist with the removal of certain difficult-to-clean materials from the skin, including adhesives, sealants, glue, paint residues, permanent marker, food coloring, and other stubborn contaminants. For most routine washing needs, a single DeGoo® Soap Tablet is typically sufficient. When dealing with heavily soiled hands or stubborn residues, the cleansing process may need to be repeated, or two to three tablets may be used together with thorough scrubbing before rinsing. Unlike ordinary soap that primarily focuses on cleansing, DeGoo® combines cleansing, adsorption, and gentle scrubbing action in a concentrated tablet format designed for challenging cleanup situations.
Is DeGoo® the same as loose activated charcoal?
No. DeGoo® Soap Tablets is a finished soap product with its own formulation, directions, limitations, and intended use. Loose activated charcoal, medical activated charcoal, filtration carbon, and activated charcoal used in other products are not interchangeable with DeGoo™
How should I use DeGoo®?

Can DeGoo®be used on sensitive skin?
While DeGoo® was formulated to be safe for sensitive skin, individual skin responses differ. Review the ingredient list and product warnings before use. If you have known sensitivities, allergies, a skin condition, or uncertainty about whether the product is appropriate, consult an appropriate healthcare professional before use. Stop use if irritation occurs.
Will activated charcoal stain my skin, washcloth, or other surfaces?
No and yes. DeGoo® does not stain skin and is designed to rinse away during normal use. However, because it contains activated charcoal, dark residue may transfer to some light-colored, absorbent textile materials such as washcloths, towels, or clothing. Prompt rinsing and laundering are recommended if residue is observed.
Is DeGoo® safe to eat or use as medical activated charcoal?
No. DeGoo® is a soap product. It should not be eaten or used as a substitute for medical activated charcoal. For poisoning or suspected harmful exposure, contact emergency services or a poison-control resource rather than using a household charcoal product.
Does DeGoo® diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease?
No disease claim should be inferred from DeGoo® Soap Tablets. Use the product only as directed and seek appropriate professional care for medical concerns.

What is activated charcoal?
Activated charcoal, also called activated carbon, is carbon processed to develop a highly porous internal structure and a large amount of surface area. What is adsorption?
Adsorption is the attachment or accumulation of molecules at a surface. With activated carbon, many interactions occur on the walls of internal pores. Learn more on our Adsorption Technology page
Is adsorption the same as absorption?
No. Adsorption occurs when a substance attaches to a surface, while absorption occurs when a substance enters and spreads throughout another material. Activated carbon works through adsorption because interactions occur on its internal surfaces. A simple way to remember the difference is: adsorption happens on a surface; absorption happens within a material. Learn more on our Adsorption Technology page
Why are pores important?
Pores create internal surfaces where adsorption can occur. More surface area does not automatically guarantee performance for every target. Pore size, surface chemistry, contact conditions, competing substances, and the target molecule all matter.
Does activated charcoal adsorb everything?
No. Activated carbon is selective rather than universal. Performance depends on the carbon, the target substance, concentration, contact time, surrounding environment, and competition from other materials. Broad statements that charcoal removes everything are not scientifically appropriate.
What do capacity and saturation mean?
Capacity describes how much material an adsorbent can hold under defined conditions. Saturation occurs as available adsorption capacity is used. Activated carbon has limits, and performance may decline as adsorption sites become occupied.
Can activated carbon be regenerated?
Some activated-carbon media used in industrial or environmental systems can be regenerated under controlled conditions. Not a consumer soap or disposable product, these should never be regenerated or reused. Follow the product’s own directions.
Why can two activated-charcoal products behave differently?
Activated carbons are not all the same. Feedstock, activation process, pore-size distribution, surface chemistry, particle form, purity, formulation, amount, and contact conditions can affect behavior. Evidence for one product should not automatically be transferred to another.
